Beginning with version V4.4, Total Recorder introduced support for Windows Media Audio (WMA) files and provided the ability for all editions to record and play WMA files. With the Professional and Developer Editions of Total Recorder, you can also edit WMA files.

To work with WMA files, you must install Windows Media Player 9, or later, or a special redistribution package supplied by Microsoft. While connected to the Internet, click on this link to obtain the package. The package is in the form of a .exe file named wmfdist.exe. Simply download the file and double click on the file to install it.

You can also download Windows Media Player 9.0 or higher from Microsoft at this web page.

If you have Windows Media Player 9 or higher already installed, there is no need to download the wmfdist.exe file. The file is only needed if an older version of WMP is installed and you do not want to upgrade.

Note: High Criteria's support for WMA files does not include support for creating, editing or playing files protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM) facilities.
